Police are investigating two allegations of rape in Brandon after reports of two separate incidents were received in the early hours on Sunday.

One of the victims is currently being treated at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, the second is receiving help and support from specially trained police officers.

A 20-year-old man from Brandon has been arrested and is being interviewed by detectives.

A spokeswoman for the police said: “Two areas of Brandon, off London Road and Thetford Road, have been cordoned off while inquiries continue.

“Police want to hear from anyone who was in the area of Mill Hill or The Avenue, near the sports centre, on Sunday and may have seen or heard anything suspicious.”

The spokesman said additional officers were drafted into Brandon on Sunday to carry out patrols and house to house inquiries.

Members of the public area urged to call Suffolk Police on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if they have any information.
