Youngsters from a Brandon school (pictured right) spread some festive cheer when they travelled to sing seasonal songs.

Some 25 pupils from Forest Academy visited the Premier Inn in Thetford where they sang carols to nearby residents.

Deputy head April Grimes said it was important for the youngsters to perform in front of a live audience.

She said: “It’s good for their self-esteem because they know that turning up to rehearsals every week is worth it.

“They’ve worked hard and we sing traditional carols because I think that’s what people like to hear.”

The choir was invited to the Thetford hotel by the parents of two girls who attend the school.

The children received a free Christmas dinner as a thank you.
