RESIDENTS at a Brandon care home are hoping to have a flipping good time and break the record for the 'oldest pancake race' next week.

Staff and residents at Bupa's Brandon Park Residential and Nursing Home have been busy practising for the race which takes place on Shrove Tuesday.

The care home is one of 50 across the UK that are organising 'golden oldies' pancake races, adding up the ages of everyone taking part to see if they can claim the Bupa's oldest pancake race title.

Joyce Cole-Wilkins, activity co-ordinator for Brandon Park, said: “We're trying to get as many residents as possible involved, with a little bit of help from the staff of course, but it will be a great way to celebrate the day.

“Everyone else will be cheering us on and we'll also be donning our aprons, choosing our favourite pancake fillings and sampling them all to round off the party.”
