Police have begun a manhunt after a prisoner absconded from a Suffolk jail.
Michael Archer, 47, who was serving life at Hollesley Bay, near Woodbridge, for wounding with intent, was last seen at the prison at about 5.30am yesterday but had made his escape by 8am.
He is described as white, 6ft tall, of thin build, with grey/brown hair, brown eyes, an oval shaped face and a scar on his chin. He also has a scroll tattoo on his torso.
He has connections to the Thetford area and the Newton Aycliffe area of Northumberland
Anyone who sees Archer is asked to call Suffolk Police on 01473 613500 or contact their nearest police station.
