This month sees the release of The Black Prince movie about the last King of the Punjab, Maharajah Duleep Singh.
To celebrate, the object is a photo album owned by Duleep Singh’s second son, Prince Frederick Duleep Singh.
The photo on the left depicts Frederick’s mother, Maharani Bamba, while the photo on the right depicts his siblings, Princesses Catherine, Bamba, Sophia, and Prince Albert Edward.
Prince Frederick is famous for founding the museum in 1924.
From a young age, he was a lover of art, and spent many days with his mother and brother – Prince Victor – exploring galleries and exhibitions.
He spent most of his early years at the Elveden Estate, but would often go for horse rides on his own to find things to sketch.
He mainly drew buildings and architectural features that interested him. As an adult, he had an extensive portrait collection of key figures from Norfolk.
The photo album is on display at museum and a pop up exhibition, Maharajah: Sovereign, Squire, Rebel, will be held on September 9.
The Black Prince will be released in selected UK cinemas from the July 21.
