Sports Studies student Amy Guy from Hockwold has won a special achievement award at The College of West Anglia. The award, in recognition of consistent dedication to her studies, was presented at the College's annual Student of the Year Ceremony at the King's Lynn Corn Exchange in the presence of several hundred guests.

The awards ceremony was held in the presence of the Mayors of both King's Lynn and Wisbech together with college staff, students and their families. The awards recognise the achievements of students who have excelled in some way with their courses over the past academic year.

Amy was awarded the Jason Holland Memorial Cup for her outstanding commitment to her course and for her excellent attendance, was among 60 students to receive an award from a student population of several thousand.

College principal David Pomfret, who presented the award to Amy, said “Amy has throughout the year produced work of the highest level, across the range of subjects taught on her course, Level 2 Operational Studies in Sport. In addition, Amy has represented the netball team throughout the season and also represented the girl's football team in various tournaments”.

In addition to excelling on her course, Amy devoted much of her spare time outside college working as a waitress at a local bowls centre and helping her father on the family farm.

Scott Ledley, sports and recreation lecturer said, “Amy is one of the hardest working students I have taught in all my years as a tutor. We in the sports department felt that she had shown great commitment to her course and thoroughly deserved this hard work to be recognised”.
