Stranded lorries block A134 near Thetford

The three lorries which were stranded on the A134 near Thetford this morning have been removed.

The lorries had become stuck at Two Mile Bottom, near Thetford, due to snow drifts.

Police said snow drifts of three to four feet had affected many of the roads in the county.

The road was also described as being “very icy”.

The northbound carriageway was closed while recovery of the vehicles took place.

Breckland police tweeted at 9.36am saying: “A big thank you for everyone’s patience and assistance whilst getting lorries and cars stuck on the #A134 #Thetford moved! Road now clear and gritted! #TeamWork #ThankYou”.

Road conditions are treacherous following snow drifts overnight and ice.

Norfolk Police tweeted this morning saying: “Stay home unless your journey is absolutely necessary so the roads are clearer for officers to reach those who need our assistance. If you have to leave your vehicle? Please ensure it’s left in a safe position and doesn’t cause any obstructions.”
