A second man has been charged in connection with a reported kidnapping and assault of another man in Brandon.

On Sunday, October 22, between 10am and 11am, a man attending an address on London Road was taken by car, along with three other men, to an industrial estate, where he was reportedly threatened and assaulted. 

Johnathan Horridge, 50 and of South Drive in Diss, has now been charged with blackmail, kidnap and possession of offensive weapon.

He appeared at Suffolk Magistrates' Court on November 25 and was remanded to appear before Ipswich Crown Court on January 2.

Shahid Mhamood, 62 and of Arlington Way in Thetford, was charged soon after the incident with kidnapping, blackmail and being in possession of an offensive weapon.

He appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court on October 26 and was subsequently remanded by the court to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on 23 November, when he was released on bail.

In October, a 38-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and possession of a class B drug, while a 62-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping.

The 38-year-old man has been bailed until January 8, 2024, while the 35-year-old woman was bailed to return to police on January 24.

A 40-year-old man was also arrested in connection to the incident in Bury St Edmunds on November 24 and he was released on bail until February 24.

Police are appealing for help to identify the individuals connected with the incident, and are also keen to identify vehicle owners who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

One of the men seen with the alleged victim was wearing dark clothing, while the other had a light-coloured top on.
