An "eclectic and funky" cake shop has opened in a Norfolk town.

Puddin opened today (February 10), in unit number three at The Shambles, in Thetford Market Place.

It comes after a successful few years for Jessica Doe, 26, who launched her mobile dessert business in a horse box during the coronavirus pandemic.

There are around six seats in the shop, which sells a variety of cakes and traybakes from the counter.

Miss Doe describes the space as "like a shamble", decorated with a unicorn head, a flower wall and neon signage.

Opening the shop in time for Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, Miss Doe said: "It's gone mental and it's all happened so quickly.

"The support in Thetford and the surrounding areas has been amazing, people are excited about it. It is lovely.

"To have that support makes me so excited - everyone seems as excited as I am and rallying me up.

"It has been a real family venture, I couldn't have done it without my mum, dad and uncle."

Puddin will be open Tuesday from 10am to 2pm and Friday and Saturday from 10am to 3pm - offering all the same sweet treats as in the horse box.

The limited openings are to allow Miss Doe to have time to continue baking for birthdays and weddings.

She will also be supplying Tall Orders, in Thetford.

Puddin received just under £10,000 in grant support as part of Breckland Council's Meanwhile project.

Cllr Paul Claussen added: “It can be challenging for business entrepreneurs to make the leap to the high street which is why our Meanwhile Project can make a real difference.

"I am delighted to see Puddin open on the high street, driven by Jess and her fantastic entrepreneurial spirit and wonderful bakes.”
