A CHARITY has made a rallying cry to the women of Thetford and Brandon to take part in a sponsored walk - in their pyjamas!

The unusual combination of nightwear and trainers will be needed for a fun night-time walk in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care next month .

More than 300 women have already signed up to the 11.2-mile Girl's Night Out walk in Bury St Edmunds, but organisers said they are hoping even more will take part with the event just weeks away.

Jenny Baskett, event and challenges fundraiser, said: “We have been delighted with the fantastic response we have had so far for the event.

“But we would love to have even more women and girls sign up. We know there are some keen walkers and great charity fundraisers in and around the Thetford and Brandon area and we would love to see you on the night.

“It will be a fantastically fun challenge and a super way to raise thousands of pounds for the Hospice.”

All participants are encouraged to take part in their pyjamas for the night-time walk around Bury on September 19.

This is the first year St Nicholas Hospice Care has organised this special event and it is hoped thousands of pounds will be raised to support its work with terminally ill local people and their families.

Each participant must raise a minimum of 100 through sponsorship with walkers getting a commemorative T-shirt and goody bag and a well-earned bacon roll and hot chocolate at the end of the challenge.

The walk - which includes the gardens at the Hospice - starts at 8pm with registration at 7pm.
