THETFORD police officers will be spreading security messages this Christmas in a bid to keep thieves away from gifts.
THETFORD police officers will be spreading security messages this Christmas in a bid to keep thieves away from gifts.
The team will offer crime prevention advice over the festive period as well as security marking gifts such as bikes, mobile phones and sat navs.
Thetford PCSO Sandra Hofmeister said: “The idea behind this Christmas round robin across the estates is to reduce the chance of thieves ruining Christmas for anyone.
“By getting presents security marked will lose their value to a potential thief.”
The team will be offering free property marking at six locations before Christmas.
These are:
t Monday, December 7, Croxton Road; Fairfields play park between 10am and midday, and Anna Gurney shops between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
t Tuesday, December 8, Redcastle Estate; Cannons Walk shops between 10am and midday and Maine Street bus stop between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
t Wednesday, December 9, Barnham Cross Estate; Sports and social club between 10am and midday, shops/church between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
t Thursday, December 10, Cloverfield/Admirals Estate; Rosecroft Way church between 10am and midday, and Admirals Way shops between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
t Friday, December 11, Abbey Estate; Hanover Court between 10am and midday, and York Way shops between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
t Saturday, December 12, Thetford Town Centre; King Street, between 10am and 4pm.
Property marking pens will also be available to buy at each event a well as a range of security-related Christmas gifts such as purse-dipping and shed alarms.
