The hunt for two suspects wanted after a man was stabbed while on a Mother's Day outing with his family is continuing.

Danny Norman was attacked just before midday on Sunday while he was near Thetford town centre with his fiancée and two daughters.

He remains in a critical condition in Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

Police have arrested four people, three of whom have been released on bail and one has been released under investigation.

However, officers are still looking for two males they believe were involved in the stabbing.

Locals have told the EDP that the pair are very familiar with Thetford Forest, the 47,000 acre woodland which surrounds the town, and walkers in the area have reported police searches being carried out.

One said he witnessed a large number of officers in the area earlier this week.

"There were about a dozen police with dogs looking around the area. One officer said it was to do with the incident on Sunday," he added.

Norfolk Constabulary said there had not been any searches of Thetford Forest.

Mr Norman, who is in his 30s, was stabbed outside Eastgate Vets in Bury Road while out with his family.

Onlookers have described how Mr Norman's daughters saw the attack.

One witness said: "It was shocking. There was a girl saying 'mummy, is daddy ok?' She was crying and obviously very upset."

Sources in the town say the incident followed a long-running dispute and police have confirmed those involved knew each other.

An RSPCA officer was at the Thetford house on Thursday where neighbours said a large amount of cats, dogs, guinea pigs, budgies, parrots and doves had been seen being taken out.

An RSPCA spokeswoman said: “This is a police-led investigation and the RSPCA is assisting in the removal of a number of animals.

“As this is an active investigation we are unable to comment further at this stage.”
