Members of an up-and-coming rock band have spoken on their delight after supporting The Darkness at a concert in Thetford Forest.

The four-piece Walkway were formed more than five years ago with three of the band living in Redgrave, near Diss.

The rock band are now on a mission to secure a recording contract following the biggest gig to date by performing in front of thousands of rock fans at High Lodge in Thetford Forest on Saturday night.

The band is made up of brothers Chris and James Ready, of Redgrave, Alex Rosedale, also of Redgrave, and Andy Burlace, of Felixstowe.

Twenty-year-old Chris, who is the lead vocalist, said playing to a local audience at Thetford Forest had been a big highlight for the band.

“We have had some really great gigs, but The Darkness take the biscuit and we got to play on a big stage and support two bands we really look up to. There were thousands of people there and the response was overwhelming,” he said.

After the concert, the band got to meet Justin Hawkins, lead singer of Lowestoft-based The Darkness, at the after show party and met fellow support act Black Stone Cherry.

Walkway, who cite 1970s and 80s classic rock bands like AC/DC and Van Halen as their influences, have just returned from the Rhodes rock festival in Greece, where they performed at three shows to 3,000 plus crowds after their success at the Legends of Rock Festival.

They have got 130 live performances this year and go back to the recording studio to record some new material in August.
