G W Staniforth BC A had the first of their local derby games against the B team, winning 75-50 (5-0) to gain some valuable league points.

Scores: Karel Mikulik, Trevor Bingham, Peter Scott, David Betts beat David Catchpole, Melvyn Osborn, Ian Watchman, David Kay, 27-14; Brian Mosby, Eric Melton, Alan Byford, Alistair Stevenson beat Bill Boast, Len Robinson, Bill Smith, Walter Pattee, 25-19; Terry Lamb, David Peaks, Mike Holbrook, John Wright beat Terry Novell, Dennis Branch, Derek Leigh, Malcolm Struthers, 23-17.

nIn the Jermy Cup, Staniforth visted Shotford and lost all interest in the competition by going down 56-72.

Scores: Kath Farthing, Brian Mosby, Pat Struthers, Alistair Stevenson 20-20; Anne Melton, Glynis Holbrook, Alan Byford, Peter Scott 19-22; Trish Thorpe, Eric Melton, Jackie Devitt, Malcolm Struthers 17-30.

nIn the Men’s County Pairs Melvyn Osborn and Derek Leigh beat John Winup and Gerald Sheridan (Connaught) 19-18.
