The Lions had already lost the five-match series, and called in 19-year-old Essex prospect Mills for his first appearance of the tour.

Mills, who plays club cricket for Mildenhall, bowled a tidy seven-over spell, taking one for 22, as Bangladesh A were bowled out for 152 in the 45th over. Northamptonshire’s Jack Brooks was the leading Lions bowler, taking three for 35.

The Lions then comfortably reached their target for the loss of four wickets, Leicestershire’s James Taylor top scoring with 65no, as Bangladesh A won the series 3-2.

Mills will be hoping his contribution earns him a place in the line-up for two Twenty20 matches against Bangladesh A, on Sunday and Monday, in Dhaka.

  • It is interesting to note the success Norfolk has had in producing cricket talent when the county has never been among the major ranks. I hope Mills pushes on to the world stage.
