Man admits killing Gurjit Singh in Thetford garage block

A 37-year-old has admitted killing a man in Thetford almost a year ago.

Viktoras Goris, 37, was charged with manslaughter following the death of Gurjit Singh, 39, after an incident in Durham Way on Monday, December 12 last year.

Goris appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday (December 5) where he entered a guilty plea.

Goris, of Guilford Way, Thetford, was warned by Judge Stephen Holt that a lengthy jail term was “inevitable”.

He said: “I’m remanding you in custody because inevitably a long custodial sentence is the only sentence I can pass in this case.”

Judge Holt adjourned sentencing until Friday, January 19 2017 at 2pm for reports.

Goris, who wore a stripy jumper and spoke through an interpreter, had previously pleaded not guilty to the offence.

As previously reported police were called to a garage block in Durham Way at around 6pm after paramedics had been called to attend to a man found motionless on the ground.

He was treated but pronounced dead at the scene.
