A ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark phase one of the improvement works at Drake Primary School in Thetford will take place next Thursday morning.

As the new term begins, pupils will move into their new facility which comprises ten classrooms, a large hall, toilets and changing facilities.

The school’s new hard play games area has also been handed over.

The building work is part of a £4.8m project to increase the provision of space which began in January.

Phase two will involve a programme of refurbishment and remodelling to the existing school rooms to provide better teaching areas for Reception and Year 1 pupils, a library, a larger staff room and more office space, all due for completion in June next year.

The contractors are Morgan Sindall.
