Flags at RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath will be flown at half-staff until sunset on Wednesday as a mark of respect for the victims of the recent shooting in Aurora, Colorado.
The flags of the United States, in accordance with a proclamation by US President Barack Obama on July 20, will be lowered, as will the RAF Ensign, the official flag used to represent the Royal Air Force.
The move is a mark of respect for those injured and killed when a gunman opened fire at a Batman film screening in the American town.
James Holmes, 24, has been arrested in connection with the attack, which killed 12 and injured 58.
Colonel Christopher Kulas, 100th Air Refuelling Wing commander, said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and friends.
“Colorado may be geographically far away from RAF Mildenhall, but as Americans we are all saddened by this tragedy.”
