Thetford Grammar School was left with a large amount of damage when a National Express coach hit the Grade II listed wall and gates opposite the bus station off Bridge Street in January.

Designs for the new brickwork have been sourced from the debris and photographs and in a planning report, the school said it would like take the chance to improve the wall and gates when they are rebuilt, depending on the cost.

This could include setting the gates back and rounding the corners to improve visibility which would give more room for coaches to swing past.

The proposed gates could match the existing gates in height but could be entirely vertically boarded, instead of adding horizontal boarding across the top.

A decison will be taken by Breckland Council planners by March 3.
