Former Norwich City vice-chairman and director Jimmy Jones MBE has died at the age of 73.

Mr Jones ran Great Yarmouth’s seafront Pleasure Beach for many years and his son Albert continues to run the business today.

He had been heavily involved in Gorleston Football Club since 1973, his son said.

Mr Jones died at The Heart Hospital in London last night. He had been battling heart and kidney problems for the last three years.

He leaves a widow Jane, son Albert, daughter Elizabeth and six grandchildren.

Albert Jones paid tribute to his father today saying: “He touched so many people’s lives. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He did a lot of work for the local community and he loved football. It was his real passion.”

  • I met Jimmy Jones a couple of times - once when he gave up his holiday time to meet with a group of Canaries in Australia supporters. He spoke candidly and was genuinely interested in our views. I had a lot of time for him. R.I.P.
